Is zoo a good way of saving endangered species?
Endangered animals can be
predators, birds, fishs, plants, or other living organisms threatened with
extinction because of human activity, climate changes or a small population.
Nowadays many people believe that zoos are the best way of saving dwindling
species but, in my view, it is not a good place for these type of animals.
First of all, zoos mostly described as an entertainment for people, so
they are not a great option for protecting endangered animals. They need a
place that it is similar to their natural environment and they should feel a scent
of nature which is important thing for animals. Also, it is very uncomfortable for huge animals, for
instance, giraffes, lions or rhinos. They do not have enough space for their
requirements and they look like circus artists.
Moreover, most of the organisms are living in cages or in places with
terrible conditions. No one would like being in a fold despite you are an
animal or human. What is more, horrible state of zoos cause various diseases so
this leads that it is more harmful for them and they face extinction more
quickly than in the nature.
On the other hand, some people maintain that zoos are a good choice of
saving endangered species since it is practical and safe. Animals need to be
save soon and zoos is the best place to take care of them. For example, there
are special wide outside places in the modern zoos where animals can feel free
and live a normal life. In addition, some zookeepers are not as horrible as
people think since they try to look after and increase population of endangered
species.
In conclusion, endangered animals should be protected in a special
facilities or places which would be like a natural habitat and they should be free.
Zoos is not the best option of saving these type of species even though some zoos
have an excellent conditions of living.
